Frequently Asked Questions:
Can you guarantee my package will arrive on the very day I need it? The cost of delivery is included in every Emma order. A package bound for somewhere other than Atlanta, Georgia (where it will be hand-delivered and CAN be guaranteed to arrive on the day you need it) is shipped Priority Mail through the United States Postal Service. We tend to ship early in the day, which means that it is most likely that your package will arrive, as scheduled, two days after it is shipped. We can’t, however, guarantee what we can’t personally deliver. For pinpoint accuracy (or your money refunded) we offer one day/overnight shipping for an additional $18. Either way, we CAN guarantee your order will arrive fresh and intact (or our mortified apology and your money back).
** I had one of your brownies at the home of a friend who had received them as a birthday gift. It was incredible and I want to order some for myself (for my own birthday), but I hesitated because I noticed that a few of his looked, well, a little burnt. I think he noticed that I saw the singed brownies, but he put them away before I could ask about them. What’s the deal? Likely, the deal is that he was hoarding the “singed” ones for himself. It’s a strange phenomenon with the brownies but nearly all of them experience some small degree of “extra browning” near the end of the normal baking process. Emma explains that the various sugars in the brownie (that from the brownie or the chocolate surrounding its homemade filling or the filling itself) caramelize at different rates, and sometimes that results in one sugar that outraces another to the finish line. We used to trim these overcooked sections off (and eat them secretly after hours) until the complaints came in revealing other closet “burnt” brownie lovers. Now we leave them intact and let people enjoy them, gooey, chewy and crispy, from one side to the other.
** Who is EMMA and shouldn’t she be in school? Not surprisingly, this is Emma’s least favorite question because a) she is (to hear her tell it) ALWAYS in school and b) she can’t quite figure out (from her perch as an advanced eleven year-old) why in the world anyone considers her to be a figure of mystery. She is the creator of this organization, both its brain-child and its brain. We don’t make a move without her—before, during or after school.
